RUN IN HONOR OF A VETERAN
For many participants, this race isn't simply about reaching a finish line.
It's about who they're carrying with them along the way.
Maybe you're a veteran completing the race in honor of those you served beside.
Maybe you're running for your father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, spouse, sibling, friend, or coworker.
Maybe you're walking in memory of someone who is no longer here.
Or perhaps you simply want to take time on Veterans Day to recognize the millions of Americans who have served our country.
Whatever brings you to the starting line, make these miles meaningful.
Choose a veteran. Dedicate your race. Carry their story with you.
A MEANINGFUL VETERANS DAY TRADITION
Veterans Day is observed each year on November 11 to honor America's military veterans.
The Veterans Day Virtual Race gives individuals, families, veterans, military communities, and supporters an active way to commemorate the day.
Walk one mile together as a family.
Run a Veterans Day 5K.
Challenge yourself to a 10K.
Complete a half marathon or marathon in honor of someone who served.
Because this is a virtual race, you can participate from virtually anywhere.
You don't have to stand at the same starting line to run for the same reason.

HOW DOES THE VETERANS DAY VIRTUAL RACE WORK?
1. CHOOSE YOUR DISTANCE
Select:
1 Mile | 5K | 10K | Half Marathon | Marathon
Choose the challenge that's meaningful and achievable for you.
2. DEDICATE YOUR MILES
Consider choosing a veteran to honor during your challenge.
Write their name on your race bib.
Carry their photo.
Wear something that reminds you of them.
Or simply keep their story in your thoughts as you complete your miles.
3. COMPLETE YOUR RACE
Run, walk, jog, or hike anywhere you choose:
• Around your neighborhood
• At a local park
• On a favorite trail
• On a military installation where permitted
• At the gym
• On a treadmill
• On a running track
• During another organized race
Complete your challenge anytime during November or December 2026.
4. CELEBRATE YOUR FINISH
Track your miles using your preferred fitness app, GPS watch, treadmill, or another method.
Then celebrate your accomplishment and the veteran—or veterans—you chose to honor.
Your race. Your pace. Their honor.
A GREAT CHALLENGE FOR VETERANS, FAMILIES & GROUPS
The Veterans Day Virtual Race can also become a meaningful group activity.
Invite your:
• Family
• Friends
• Fellow veterans
• Military family
• Running club
• Walking group
• Veterans organization
• Workplace
• Church group
• School or community organization
Everyone can choose the distance that's right for them while participating for the same purpose.
You can even dedicate your group challenge to a specific veteran or create a list of veterans represented by everyone participating.
Different distances. Different stories. One shared purpose.
YOUR MILES SUPPORT VETERANS
This race doesn't only honor veterans.
It also gives back to them.
At least 15% of every Veterans Day Virtual Race registration is donated to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Charitable Service Trust, supporting programs serving ill, injured, and wounded veterans.
That gives every mile another layer of meaning.
You're getting active.
You're honoring those who served.
And you're helping support programs created to assist veterans.
Run with gratitude. Walk with purpose. Make your miles matter.
MORE THAN $1 MILLION RAISED FOR CHARITY
The Veterans Day Virtual Race is part of a much larger mission.
The Virtual Run Events community has helped raise more than $1 million for charities and nonprofit organizations through virtual races and fitness challenges.
Every registration adds to that impact.
Every participant helps.
And every mile gives us another opportunity to combine fitness with giving back.
Together, our miles can make a difference.
WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RACE?
A virtual race is a running or walking challenge you complete on your own schedule from virtually anywhere.
There is no crowded starting line.
No race-day travel.
No required pace.
Walk your neighborhood.
Run your favorite trail.
Use a treadmill.
Gather your family.
Meet up with fellow veterans.
Or complete your miles on your own.
Virtual races allow beginners, walkers, experienced runners, veterans, military families, and supporters across the country to participate in the same challenge without needing to be in the same location.
Your race. Your pace. Your place.
WHO WILL YOU HONOR WITH YOUR MILES?
Think of a veteran whose story deserves to be remembered.
A parent.
A grandparent.
A spouse.
A sibling.
A friend.
A fellow service member.
Or someone you've never met whose service helped protect the freedoms we enjoy today.
Then choose your challenge:
1 Mile. 5K. 10K. Half Marathon. Marathon.
Lace up your shoes.
Carry their story.
Complete your miles.
And make your finish line mean something.
HONOR THEIR SERVICE. REMEMBER THEIR SACRIFICE. 🇺🇸

Very fun, easy to do, and fantastic medal!
Heavy good material
These medals are so much nicer than any in person races I have done. Definitely going to do more virtual races in between in person races. It is motivating and then you get the awesome medals. This company also donates a portion of sales for this race to DAV so absolutely worth it.
very nice medal
Metal is fantastic. My husband is a veteran and he can't wait for race day.
